You might have heard that Brighton is a gay-friendly town? Well, starting on the 21st July is Pride 2010. So be ready for perhaps the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi- and transgender) community’s biggest, boldest, and at times, brashest party of the year.
It’s Pride 2010: A chance for everyone who takes part to celebrate the freedom to express themselves, as themselves.
If you have any scruples, we suggest leaving them at home. Look past the lycra-clad and thong-strapped Adonis’s (they will be there) and take in the atmosphere; this is a celebration for the whole city. And it’s as much a regular date on the straight calendar as it is on those of LGBT residents.

It’s official: Brits are staying at home! The latest government statistics prove that more than ever, British people are choosing Brighton over Bologna.
There were 11 million fewer trips made to foreign countries from 2008 through 2009, and 15 per cent fewer trips abroad for holidays.
That’s because it’s so good here! Take Brighton for instance: We have had three weeks of glorious weather – it’s only rained once, and that was in the middle of the night!
The beach has one of the highest cleanliness ratings, there are half a dozen parks to enjoy, and as for the nightlife, it really is second to none.

At one time, Edith Piaf was the most highly paid star in the world. However, a life of troubles left her penniless, and some of her friends kept her nearer the gutter than the stars. That said, her voice and her performances were exceptional. Coming soon to the Brighton Dome is a performance of her work by Martha Wainwright, not to be missed.

Brighton’s Cinema Paradiso
There’s no better place for a night out than the Duke of York’s Picturehouse. If you are a fan of classic movies, or just fancy a change from the standardized multi-plex set up, then it is the only place of its sort in this town.

Party and Paddle Round The Pier
It's time to party and paddle
With the sun shining and the sea warming up, it’s time to celebrate summer. So grab a board and paddle around the pier. What? Paddle around the pier? Yes, this weekend Brighton will play host to Paddle Round The Pier, Europe’s biggest free beach festival.
It’s all held on Hove lawns, and don’t worry if you don’t fancy getting in the water, there are a multitude of other events you can get yourself and the family involved in.

Brighton Ballrooms: Ready to Party
Returning to glory
One of the town’s most historic and best-loved venues is set to re-open. The Hanbury Ballrooms will be reborn as the Brighton Ballrooms from Friday 2nd June, and get a £300,000 makeover!
The opening night party looks set to be a sell-out, and thanks to the influence of one of Brighton’s top culture couples, the Brighton Ballrooms is again making the headlines.
